The cottonmouth is a venomous pit viper, found in the southeastern United States. This is the only semi-aquatic viper, usually found near or in water, especially in marshes, streams and slow-moving and shallow lakes. They are such strong swimmers, that individuals have been spotted entering the sea.

Watch also this footage that has emerged from Russia of a skinny snake trying to swallow a particularly large frog. The video, filmed near Saratov on June 22, shows the small but strong snake dragging the amphibian around while trying to consume it. The frog can be seen trying desperately to resist the snake, but the attempts are eventually unsuccessful.
