Joyxee Island near Cancun, Mexico, has a three-storey house has two bedrooms, a hot tub, three shell showers, a kitchen and working Internet. It is surrounded by palm trees, mangroves, fruit trees and edible herbs and plants, which all grow from the sand and soil of the hand-made island. A 100ft-long umbilical cord connects the island to the shore and provides solar generated electricity, water and internet.

His floating green island has also three beaches, even a solar-powered waterfall and a small river, a wave-powered washing machine and solar panels. Volunteers from all over the world come to visit Joyxee and Rishi to helped with this unique project. Richart Sowa keeps building day by day, so Joyxee will always be a work of art in progress.
Dream come true
‘My plan is to become self-sufficient, I am a vegetarian and have many plants growing on the Island which I eat, but for more variety I go by bicycle to the nearby local shop,’ said Richart and added ‘Living on my own floating island has been my dream for over two-decades. I always loved my island lifestyle and enjoy each chance to show the beauty of the place with anyone I can.’
But the artist wanted to share his sanctuary with a soul-mate. He met model Jodi Bowlin from Tennessee on Facebook and asked her to live with him. Now they are happy together and she added a woman’s touch and even encouraged him to make improvements.
