A Canadian father is receiving support around the world after posting a video of himself defending children with Down syndrome

Robb Scott, 41, of Truro, Nova Scotia, created the video after he said he overheard another father in a video store explaining to his son what Down syndrome was.

He overheard a man tell his son that Down syndrome is “an illness of not knowing anything.” That comment, Scott said, made him sick. That’s because Robb’s own son, Turner, has Down syndrome. Too shocked to reply in person, Scott later recorded a video detailing what he wished he would have told the man. He was overcome with the feeling that he had failed his son.

“The video was really more for me because I felt like ‘OK, I dealt with this poorly and the only way I could feel better is to at least express positively what I feel,'” Scott told ABC News. “[I thought] maybe a couple of people will see it and share it and it will help them think differently.”

His emotional video has since gone viral, not only for the heartfelt sentiment he expresses, but also for the lesson it teaches.
